Born on December 26, 1964 in L’Aquila, Italy, Professor Cervelli graduated cum laude in 1989 in Medicine from the University of Rome Tor Vergata with a specialization in Plastic Surgery in July 1994. He continued as a research fellow there from 1994 to 2001. His research interest and professional practice has been mainly directed toward reconstructive surgery in oncology, in particular pathology of the breast, abdomen, and thorax and reconstruction and aesthetic surgery of the skull and its appendix, ear, nose and orbit. He has developed innovative techniques in regenerative surgery with the use of growth factors, adipose derived stem cells. In 2001, he became Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Rome Tor Vergata also teaching in many medical specialization schools of the same University. He has been Chief of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery department at the University of Rome Tor Vergata and Policlinico Casilino Hospital since 2001 and Director of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery School since 2007. Prof. Cervelli has published more than 300 articles in national and international journals.
